Mission & Vision

Seeking and Growing Disciples

The Mission

For the Mission of Seeking and Growing Disciples
"We Exist to Seek and Grow Disciples"

At Colonial Heights Baptist Church, we believe God has called us to a clear and compelling mission: to seek people for Christ and grow people in Christ. This mission is not a slogan or an organizational statement—it is the heartbeat of every ministry, decision, and direction of our church. Our leadership vision is to build a disciple-making culture where every person is equipped, encouraged, and empowered to follow Jesus faithfully and help others do the same.
1. A Culture Where Seeking the Lost Is Normal
We envision a church where seeking people for Christ is not the work of a few but the posture of the whole body.
A church where:
•Every believer sees their daily environments—home, workplace, neighborhood—as mission fields.
•Evangelism happens naturally through relationships, hospitality, and intentional conversations.
•Our ministries prioritize clarity in the Gospel and create welcoming environments for unbelievers.
•We invest in outreach efforts that meet real needs while pointing people to real hope.
•We cultivate a heart for the nations and invite our church to pray, give, and go.
Seeking is not a department of the church—it is the identity of a disciple.
2. A Pathway for Growing Disciples at Every Stage
We envision a church where spiritual growth is accessible, measurable, and relational.
A church where:
•People move intentionally from curiosity → connection → commitment → commission.
•Every member is rooted in Scripture, confident in prayer, and connected in community.
•Our Life Bible Studies and small groups become the backbone of spiritual formation.
•We provide clear onboarding pathways for new believers, new members, and those returning to faith.
•Discipleship is both structured (curriculum, training, classes) and organic (relationships, mentorship, accountability).
Growing is not optional—it is the expectation for every follower of Jesus.
3. A Leadership Pipeline That Multiplies Servants and Shepherds
We envision a church where leadership is continually reproduced, not merely recruited.
A church where:
•Volunteers become servants, servants become leaders, leaders become disciplers, and disciplers become multipliers.
•Ministry teams integrate training into their rhythms—so people grow as they serve.
•Young leaders are identified early, affirmed publicly, and developed intentionally.
•Our staff leads by equipping the saints, not by performing all the ministry.
When we grow disciples, we grow leaders.
When we grow leaders, we grow the church.
4. A Worshiping Community Formed by the Word
We envision a church where Scripture is the authority, foundation, and lens through which everything we do is evaluated.
A church where:
•The Bible is central in preaching, small groups, and family discipleship.
•People learn to read, understand, and apply Scripture in their daily lives.
•Biblical truth shapes our decisions, guides our relationships, and fuels our mission.
•We embrace the whole counsel of God, not just the comfortable parts.
A Bible-saturated church becomes a Christ-centered church.
5. A Church Known for Prayer, Unity, and Love
We envision a church whose spiritual health is as visible as its numerical growth.
A church where:
•Prayer is our first response, not our last resort.
•Unity is fiercely protected and lovingly practiced.
•Generosity, grace, and hospitality mark our culture.
•Every ministry works together instead of alongside or against one another.
People who seek and grow disciples are people shaped by the love and humility of Christ.
6. A Community Impacted by Our Presence
We envision a church that matters—not because of our size but because of our service.
A church where:
•Our neighbors know our name because they have experienced our love.
•Schools, families, and local organizations view Colonial Heights as a partner for good.
•We meet needs, offer hope, and give Christ away through practical ministry.
•Our presence strengthens homes, encourages the discouraged, and lifts the broken.
A disciple-making church impacts more than Sunday—it impacts the city.
